The Truffle Broadband Bonding Network Appliance is a packet level load balancing router with WAN aggregation and Internet failover technology. Truffle provides aggregated Internet connectivity to small and medium size businesses (SMBs), enterprise offices, apartments, hotels, hospitals and other multi-tenant buildings via aggregating multiple Internet access lines for increased performance and reliability. With the Truffle, multiple DSL, cable modem or T1 services can be combined to provide higher speed and more reliable Internet access.

Besides WAN aggregation, Truffle is also a stateful firewall, bandwidth manager, Internet failover, traffic monitoring and traffic shaping appliance that is packed with cutting edge adaptive Quality of Service features - all in one box. Truffle is powered by our enterprise level operating software that is dependable, scalable, remotely manageable and field upgradable.

Truffle combines multiple Internet access lines, each on a Gigabit Ethernet interface, into a single aggregated Internet access line, again on a Gigabit Ethernet interface. The aggregation over the Internet access lines is done even for a single session, providing the full aggregate speed. The Truffle supports aggregation of up to 4,8 or 12 Internet access lines and additional 2 cellular data cards. Each Internet access line may be through a DSL modem, cable modem, T1, MPLS, satellite modem, fractional DS3, DS3, fiber, cellular or any other broadband connection.

Aggregated point-to-multipoint Capacity with Virtual Leased Line - Truffle is a load balancing router with packet level WAN aggregation. Truffle can peer over the Internet with a Truffle device that has the VLL server module, to create a bonded pipe between the two locations (such as a head-quarter office and the branch offices). In this peered mode, all uplink and downlink traffic between the head-quarter/data center office and the branch office location(s), including VPNs, can utilize the aggregated bandwidth of the combined Internet access links.

Acceleration - All HTTP downlink sessions are aggregated for faster transfer via the Broadband Bonding WAN aggregation technology. Truffle is a load balancing router with packet granularity aggregation. Even in cases of single HTTP session (an example of such a session is a single file download), all Internet access lines are simultaneously and intelligently combined together to provide a faster data transfer for that single session.

High 9s network reliability - Automatic failover will protect against failure of one or more Internet access lines as long as at least one access line is still active. Additionally, Automated Domain Name Service (ADNS) optimization is used to maximize the utility of all active access lines, with automated email, syslog or SNMP alerts. This translates to both better performance and less downtime for your network.

Cellular data WAN connection - Truffle supports 2 USB ports for cellular data cards. The cellular data card dongle can be configured as a fail-over-only or always-on WAN connection. In fail-over mode, in case of all the wired Internet access lines fail, the cellular data card will take over in less than 30 seconds.

Application Armor with Session Keep Alive - When peered to a head-office Truffle Master unit, the Truffle Master unit monitors and intelligently reacts in realtime to mitigate any performance degradation caused by the WAN links at the branch offices. Managed parameters and network problems include packet loss, latency, jitter, cross-traffic, buffer management, MTU problems, black holes as well as others. In case of packet loss, spike in latency or any other degradation on any of the WAN links at the branch office, the VLL tunnel between Truffle and Truffle Master maintains the ongoing IP sessions without loss of performance by shielding the effects of dropped WAN link, lost packets, high latency on any of the links. 2G/3G/4G cellular cards can be added as standby WAN access links for additional reliability.

Advanced Quality of Service (QoS) - Various adaptive quality of service features enables dynamic bandwidth reservation for your selected applications and traffic types, that adaptively reserves bandwidth only when that traffic type is detected. You can also limit inbound/outbound traffic to defined bit rates, bind certain traffic types on to specified WAN links, manipulate traffic based on TOS identifier, block certain traffic types and much more.

Traffic Monitoring - A history of your traffic usage based on type, prototcol, interface or layer 7 deep packet inspection identification are presented with multi-color graphs with a time scale from seconds, minutes, hours, days and months.

DNS load balancing for inbound requests - Truffle can easily be configured to provide Dynamic DNS load-balancing for inbound requests for internally hosted servers such as web-servers, ftp-servers, mail-servers etc.

Intelligent session-based load balancing - In peered mode, Truffle will bond all types of traffic in downlink and uplink. Without peering, non-HTTP downlink sessions and all uplink sessions initiated from the Local Network, will be session based load balanced intelligently across the WAN lines. The application and cookie semantics will be preserved.

Pass-through installation – For installing Truffle into your existing network, no changes are required at your firewall or network. Simply slide in the Truffle between your existing network/firewall and your existing modem and add the additional WAN links as you need. All the installation and configuration can be done through the web-based management interface locally or remotely.

No coordination with ISP - With the Truffle, no new equipment or software is necessary from your Internet Service Provider(s) and all ISPs are supported. A user-friendly web-based management interface is provided for quick and easy configuration and system monitoring, either locally or remotely over the Internet.

Additional features include: DHCP server (can be turned off), state-full firewall (can be turned off), port forwarding, DMZ, UPnP support and others.

Truffle Lite condenses 10 years of research and development leadership on Internet load balancing, WAN virtualization, WAN optimization and Broadband Bonding, into a compact yet powerful Internet aggregation device with built-in Internet failover. 

Truffle Lite, our entry level Internet aggregator, is ideal for home offices and small offices that wish to aggregate multiple Internet access lines (Internet load balance at packet granularity) for increased performance and reliability in a cost-effective way. With Truffle Lite, multiple DSL, cable modem or T1 services can be combined to provide higher speed and more reliable Internet access. Truffle Lite is the ideal packet level Internet load balancer that is highly cost effective. 

Truffle Lite is also a stateful firewall, bandwidth manager, traffic monitoring, Internet failover and traffic shaping appliance that is packed with cutting edge adaptive Quality of Service features - all in one box. We have used our fundamental know-how and Truffle architecture in designing Truffle Lite, which means you will still have the dependability, scalability, remote manageability and field upgradable firmware features as standard. 

The base Truffle Lite model has 2 Ethernet based WAN and 2 Ethernet based LAN ports with the optional 1 or 2 more additional Ethernet based WAN ports for a total of up to 4 WAN ports. It also supports 2 USB based WAN ports for wireless data cards from any wireless carrier. 

With our pass-through installation that can be done under 180 seconds, all you need to do is to slide the Truffle Lite between your existing network/firewall and existing modem with no changes to your existing network, then add your additional WAN lines and you are all set with a blazing fast and extremely reliable Internet connection. 

Truffle V

Truffle V, is a WAN Orchestration software that can be installed and run on a standard Virtual Machine hypervisor such as VMWare Hypervisor or Xen Hypervisor. Truffle V has can be installed in a data center and peered with remote Truffle and Truffle Lite appliances in the branch offices. Once Truffle V is peered with the branch offices, there are overlay tunnels formed connecting the branch offices to the data center leveraging the bonded WAN lines at the branch offices. These bonded IP tunnels are used for IP traffic between the branch offices and the data center as well as between any of the branch offices. Hub-and-spoke star topologies or mesh topologies are supported.

The Virtual Leased Line tunnels between the physical Truffle appliances at the branch offices and the virtualized Truffle V at the data center will enable WAN Orchestration of the WAN links at the branch offices for higher performance, highly reliable WAN connectivity for the branch offices.

Virtual Leased Line
The Virtual Leased Line (VLL) provides secure, fast and reliable office to office VPN connectivity between multiple locations via creating an IP tunnel that uses the bonded Internet access lines available on each side. VLL can enable a bonded Internet pipe between two office locations or between the office and its Internet Data Center via the Truffle customer premise equipments installed at the end-points. VLL can bond any type of Internet access line from any service providers including DSL, Cable, T1, E1, MPLS etc. without requiring any coordination with the ISPs. VLL IP tunnel supports star and mesh topologies for office to office VPN. 

Virtual Leased Line provides a quick Return on Investment (ROI) and lower operating expenses as an alternative to T1 based point to point leased lines. VLL IP tunnel can be used in conjunction to MPLS or as an alternative to MPLS. The total subscription costs of multiple broadband Internet access lines are often substantially less than a single high-speed Internet access line of equivalent bandwidth. The payback period on the investment is often measured in months. 

Aggregated Point-to-multipoint Capacity - Truffle can peer over the Internet with other Truffle devices that has VLL server license (such as a head-quarter office and the branch offices) to create an IP tunnel for office to office VPN. In this peered mode, all uplink and downlink traffic between the head-quarter office and branch office/colo location(s), including VPNs, will use the aggregated bandwidth of the combined Internet access links.

Link failure recovery - In case of Internet access line failures in one of the Internet access lines within the IP tunnel, Virtual Leased Line (VLL) recovers the ongoing session by redistributing the load over the available access lines, even for the sessions in progress, without loss of data integrity. This means your office to office VPN will be kept alive even during individual WAN failures.

Improved network reliability - Automatic failover protects against failures of one or more access link outages, as it will not cause failure of the aggregated access link as long as at least one access link is still active, resulting in less downtime for the connection between BBNA devices.

Transparent Installation - The existing Local Area Network in the head-quarter office or the branch office/colo does not require any changes. All the installation and configuration is handled through the BBNA user interface.
